Archaeology 2030 Launch of new archaeological guidance for Northern Ireland

Historic Environment Division (HED) are pleased to announce the launch of a suite of three new guidance documents for practitioners working in archaeology in Northern Ireland.

  • Guidance for Conducting Licensed Archaeological Excavation in Northern Ireland
  • Guidance for the Treatment and Care of Human Remains from Archaeological Excavations in Northern Ireland
  • Guidance for the Creation and Care of Archaeological Archives in Northern Ireland

These have been developed by HED in partnership with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists CIfA, the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland (IAI), and National Museums NI. We hope they will provide an invaluable resource for everyone working across the sector.

Join us online for this lunch & learn event, launching these documents and raising sectoral awareness This initial Lunch & Learn session will be followed by workshops and information sessions later this year.

This Lunch & Learn will be led by Rhonda Robinson, Principal Archaeologist, Historic Environment Division, Department for Communities, Dr Ros Ó Maoldúin: Chair of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland (IAI) and Dr Jen Parker Wooding: Senior Professional Standards & Practice Coordinator, Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA).
